On a particular occasion in Luke 9: 45-48 Jesus turned to His disciples and made an amazing statement.

He said "Somebody has touched Me". People were milling all around Him. Many would have been touching Him, pressing to get close to Him and yet He said "Who touched Me?" There was something in that touch that was different to any other. Virtue went out of Him. A transaction of faith took place. A woman with a need reached out and in faith took hold of the answer and drew it out of Jesus. That's why He could say "I perceive virtue is gone out of Me".

There is a touch and a touch. There is a nothing touch and a "I'm saying something with this touch". A touch that means little and a touch particularly in love or grief that means a lot.

This touch meant a lot. As we come to meet with Jesus today, reach out in faith. Touch Him not with the outward resemblance of motion but reach out from the heart. Let meaning be in what we do and not routine or religiosity. For it is only in so doing that we are fresh and maintain passion for the Lord in what we do.
