In Luke 9 the disciples came to Jesus, after He had been ministering to the crowd with
5000 men. Their request was simply to send the crowd away to buy food in the towns and
villages near by. Many times the easiest way of dealing with something or someone is to
send it away. "Sorry, not much I can do". "Wish I could help" or
"Man, don't put this on me, I've already got enough on my plate". Jesus'
response was also simple. "You give them something to eat". Out of our resources
we draw. But you say, "I don't have enough". "I don't have the ability,
strength or power". Jesus would simply ask "What do we have". He doesn't
ask for what we don't have but rather what we do have. See beyond the immediate and let
God show us the potential in us and in others. You see, little is much when God is in it.
Give it. Let God expand it and bless it and there will be enough for all - self included.
If God asks you to do something don't say "I can't". Say Lord I have only this
amount of ability but I believe if I give this little bit to you, you can take it and
create a miracle for me. Our extremity is God's opportunity. Friend if you can do that God
can multiply you. It's not our ability He wants. That's God given anyway. He simply wants
our trust and faith in His ability. After all that's what works anyway. |
